“He was a beautiful person full of love and a joy to be around,” recalled CAA agent Jimmy Darmody, still reeling from the accidental death of longtime client Anton Yelchin.
“We are just devastated,” Darmody added Monday, a day after Yelchin died.
Jeremy Plager, who co-represented Yelchin, recalled that the 27-year-old had been completely engaged in his career ever since coming on board CAA a decade ago.
“He was a true artist and endlessly curious,” Plager noted. “He would watch a movie or two every single day of his life — and every kind of movie, like German films from the 1950s, without being snobby about them. He loved B movies and the kinds of films that everyone likes and I think that it was that sort of openness that helped make him so special.”
Darmody noted that he and Plager have been overwhelmed by the reaction to Yelchin’s death. “It’s really been an outpouring from people who are saying that he was a great actor and a great friend,” he added.
Plager also said that Yelchin remained close to his parents, champion figure skaters Irina Korina and Viktor Yelchin, throughout his time as a professional actor. His parents moved to the U.S. in 1989 when Anton was six months old.
“He was incredibly close to his parents and they were an extremely tight-knit family,” he noted
