Tom Cruise has achieved the impossible again.
His latest Mission Impossible film has a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, has a 98 per cent score on the movie-rating platform.
The movie, due to hit UK cinemas next Wednesday see Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt, and alongside his team, they embark on their most dangerous mission yet: “To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands.”
The movie synopsis continues: “With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission — not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
One critic, from The Atlantic, wrote about the flick: “This is a worthy entry in America’s best ongoing franchise, one where sincerity and absurdity walk hand in hand with vital, triumphant conviction.”
Meanwhile, Cruise, who stars and produces the new Mission movie, mentioned that he is determined to stay on the silver screen for the next two decades, much like 80-year-old Harrison Ford.
Ford’s latest movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, was released in the UK last week.
“Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going,” Cruise told the publication, noting, “I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him.”
Not only does the Top Gun star want to keep acting, he wants to keep making Mission movies “until I’m his age”.
Ford recently starred in franchise-ender “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” right before turning 81. Cruise turned 61st on Monday.
Ford has hinted he’s not retiring any time soon.
“I don’t do well when I don’t have work. I love to work,” Ford said on ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallce?’.
“I love to feel useful. I want to be helpful.”
