The script for “Flower,” written by Alex McAulay, was named to the 2012 Black List. The story centers on the unlikely bond that forms between a sexually adventurous teenage girl and her obese, mentally unstable step-brother.

Max Winkler, whose TV credits include “New Girl,” “Lady Dynamite” and “Brooklyn Ninety-Nine,” is directing “Flower.” Joey Morgan, Dylan Gelula, Maya Eshet, Eric Edelstein and Romy Byrne have also been cast in the film.

Producers are Brandon James of Rough House Pictures; Diablo Entertainment’s Eric B. Fleischman and Sean Tabibian; and Matt Spicer. Diablo Entertainment is financing.

CAA is representing domestic sales.

Deutch starred in Richard Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some” and opposite Zac Efron and Robert De Niro in “Dirty Grandpa.” She’ll be seen next in “Why Him” opposite James Franco and Bryan Cranston.

Deutch is collaborating with her mother Lea Thompson, who is directing “The Year of Spectacular Men.” The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
