Paramount Pictures has moved Dwayne Johnson’s action-comedy “Baywatch” back a week to May 26, the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The move means a direct face-off with Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales” in the fifth iteration of the Johnny Depp franchise, along with Sony’s sci-fier “Life,” starring Rebecca Ferguson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Johnson stars in the movie reboot of the 1990s television series “Baywatch.” Zac Efron also stars along with Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
Seth Gordon is directing. Johnson will also produce the movie with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner. Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing as well, along with Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonann.baywatchrock

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script. Plot details have been kept under wraps. Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing as well, along with Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonann.

The May 19 date still has Fox opening a pair of titles — Ridley Scott’s “Alien: Convenant” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul — along with New Line’s “Annabelle 2” and Open Road’s “Nut Job 2.”
