This morning director Sam Mendes confirmed the rumour that Christoph Waltz will take on the role of the villain in Bond 24 a.k.a. SPECTRE .
SPECTRE, of course, stands for “Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.”
The synopsis for the movie, again starring Daniel Craig as Bond and starting roduction on Monday, is: “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”
Christoph Waltz had been rumoured to take on the role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of SPECTRE, who first showed up in From Russia with Love , but his character has been announced as “Oberhauser.” Does that mean we won’t see Christoph evilly stroking an evil cat? The world would be poorer for it.
Another interesting addition to the cast is Andrew Scott , whom Sherlock fans will know and loathe as the perhaps-dead, perhaps-not Moriarty. He will play a character named Denbeigh. Dave Bautista , who had great success in Guardians of the Galaxy this summer, plays Mr. Hinx, Lea Seydoux is Madeleine Swann and Monica Belluci is Lucia Sciarra.
Rory Kinnear, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw all return. Oh, and there’s a special car: The Aston Martin DB10.
Additionally, I think little explanation is needed for the following teaser clip other than that it was recently released and has sent millions of fans around the world into an emotional frenzy. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens!!
