those two guys

This upcoming weekend, in preparation for everyone’s favourite spooky holiday, your local drive-in will be playing a triple feature of classic horror films. If you plan on attending either the Starlite Drive-In or the Mustang Drive-In, then your triple feature will be starting with new release The Last Witch Hunter, the new Vin Diesel film in which he plays an immortal witch-hunting soldier. This will be followed by classic slasher film Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. If planning on attending the Stardust Drive-In, the Sunset Barrie, or the 5 Drive-In, then your first film in the triple feature will be the newest release in the Paranormal Activity series, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. This will be followed by Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, just like the others. This triple feature will only be playing on one screen per drive-in, and unlike other triple features played at these drive-ins, this will only cost $12 per adult ticket, as opposed to the regular $13 per adult price. Kids will still be $2 per ticker, but free for children under 4. This triple feature will only be playing on Friday and Saturday nights, and not Sunday nights. And remember, this is this upcoming weekend, the 23rd and 24th, not the following weekend, when Halloween actually occurs.

jason voorhees

The classic horror films Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street are some of the most famous horror films of all time. The killers of the film, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger respectively, both exist as interesting counterpoints of the 80s-90s horror cinema. Jason, the silent killer, existing only to achieve vengeance for his horrid treatment as a child by piling as many bodies as humanly (and inhumanly) possible. And Freddy Krueger, the town’s dirty secret intending to get his revenge, from beyond the grave, travelling through dreams, and always with a witty remark. He attacks the teenaged children of all the adults who harmed in where they have no control, and they must fight back any way they can. Jason, the silent slasher, and Freddy, the snarking slayer. For a great many years, these two were THE horror film killers, and they have earned their place in the annals of horror cinema. You can check them both out, and find out why they are so legendary this upcoming weekend, at your local drive-in.
